ICYMI: 10 Bomb Threats Directed At Waltham Schools Wednesday

WALTHAM, MA — The bomb threats continue across Waltham. Wednesday morning beginning at 4:45 a.m. 10 area schools reported emailed bomb threats, police announced in a press release.

"This has been an ongoing problem. The schools have been checked and no devices have been located. All schools are open and operating on their regular schedule," police said in a press release this morning.

The matter remains under investigation, they said. The schools included Whittemore, Northeast, Kennedy and Fitzgerald.

This comes on the heals of a bomb threat Tuesday evening at the Waltham District Court that prompted an evacuation.

Jesse Lucci was in the courthouse just after 4:30 p.m. when a security guard announced there'd been a bomb threat and everyone needed to evacuate. Those waiting in the probation office were told to come back the next day. Though it didn't disrupt Lucci's day too much, she said she couldn't help notice how much of an interruption has been recently.

"I personally feel empathy for the people who are working or trying to go to school when there is a disruption like this," she told Patch in a message.

Speaking of which, a bomb threat last week at Bentley prompted an evacuation of hundreds. It takes time to get people out of classrooms and into a safe area of campus and then return everyone. The administrators there said they believed it was part of an apparent string of hoaxes. In August more than 30 similar bomb threats were emailed around the city and seemed mainly focused on schools.
