What I tried: The Marine Essentials Facial and eyebrow waxing. One of the dozen facial offerings available at Elizabeth Grady, this treatment is meant to balance and hydrate the skin. It includes products made with seaweed extracts, which are rich in vitamins and minerals. Eyebrow waxing uses warm wax to shape and sculpt the brows.
Vibe: The salon is bathed in white, from the chairs to the walls and décor, providing a calm, sleek atmosphere. A single red candle on the reception desk adds a dash of color and provides a pleasant scent. The waiting area is comfortable, with tea and spring water available.

Cool factor 1: The best part of the Marine Essentials Facial was, that while I expected a luxurious facial, I didn’t know I would receive a mini massage and a hand treatment at the same time. My hands and arms were massaged, and then placed in plastic sleeves and warm mitts. The heat worked with the moisturizing cream to soften the skin and relax the muscles in my hands. My face, shoulders, upper back and upper chest were also massaged. A light, citrus scent surrounded me, which was both relaxing and energizing. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the face massage felt, as the technique was firm, but very soothing.
Cool factor 2: The Marine Essentials Facial includes a marine mask, which is composed of elements from the sea, and is wonderful for all skin types, including my sensitive skin. When applied, the mask is cool on the skin and feels a bit like jelly. When it dries, the esthetician is able to remove it in one fell swoop, as it has firmed to a rubbery consistency. This mask hydrated and soothed my skin, and I was glowing and dewy for days. It was a great gift to give myself.
