WALTHAM, MA — Waltham firefighters by 9 a.m. Wednesday had knocked down much of a two-alarm house fire at 38 Autumn Lane – an address corrected from an initial statement by officials.
The home's residents and a dog have all been safely evacuated from the two-story building, the Waltham Fire Department said in an update. Crews were continuing to work at the scene and to monitor a propane tank next to the house.
Firefighters responded just before 8 a.m. to the blaze, and quickly called in the second alarm. They also learned of the potentially hazardous propane tank at the rear of the building.
38 Autumn Lane is just around the corner from a Weir Road address where the WFD first identified the fire. Both streets are in a residential neighborhood between Interstate 95/Route 128 and the Piety Corner area.
The department has been receiving assistance from fire crews in nearby communities, including Belmont, Lexington, Newton, Watertown and Weston.
