WalletHub, according to some recent findings, is reporting that Waltham isn’t so hot on the ice. The personal finance site decided to delve ranking the sport and its fans, and how they compare throughout the country, particularly with the Stanley Cup Playoffs in gear. WalletHub, too, reported that NHL attendance, TV ratings and revenues are rising and the “obsession with hockey is growing.”

In its 2015’s Best & Worst Cities for Hockey Fans results, Waltham ranked at number 65, landing it on the “worst” side.

To identify which cities offer the best deals to hockey fans, WalletHub crunched the numbers for 74 of the largest U.S. cities using 18 key metrics, it reported.

The data to measure the results ranged from ticket prices to stadium accessibility to the performance level of the city’s teams.

Of the 74 cites that landed in the results, Pittsburgh, PA, ranked as the best place to be a hockey fan, and Springfield, MA, ranked worse. Chestnut Hill came in second best, and Boston was high on the list at number 5.
