Bentley Duo Receive 2nd-Team All-D2CCA East Region Honors

Ella Thompson and Maggie Whitmore were named to the regional team after receiving All-Northeast-10 first-team honors in 2024.

WALTHAM, MA — Graduate student Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) and senior forward Maggie Whitmore (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS), a duo who led the Bentley University women’s basketball team to the Northeast-10 Conference championship and the top seed in the NCAA Division II East Regional, have been voted to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-East Region second team by the region’s sports information directors.

Both players were previously selected for the All-Northeast-10 first team.

Whitmore, who plans to return next season for her final year of eligibility, led the Falcons in scoring and free throw percentage while averaging 12 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists. She was the team’s top scorer eight times with a high of 22 against Daemen in the season-opener and was the Falcons’ top rebounder in six games.

Whitmore reached the 1,000-point plateau during the season, finishing the year with 1,030, and has the best career free throw percentage (.857) in program history.

Thompson started every game during her final collegiate season while averaging 11.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and three assists. Her 74 three-pointers was the fourth most in a season by a Falcon and the most by any Northeast-10 player.

Thompson, a starter in 110 of 118 games as a Falcon, finished her career with 1,282 points, a total that is 20th on Bentley’s all-time list, and the fourth most three-pointers in program history, 234. She is the sixth Falcon to amass at least 1200 points, 400 rebounds and 300 assists.

Bentley, which was upended by nationally-ranked Jefferson, was ranked 12th in the WBCA Division II coaches poll entering the NCAA tournament. The Falcons finished the season with a 27-6 record, their most wins since 2019.
