Bentley Guard Zach Laput Named To Trevor Hudgins Top 25 Watch List

The award will be presented annually to the senior who has the finest overall career within small college basketball.

WALTHAM, MA — Bentley University senior guard Zach Laput (Beacon Falls, Conn./Notre Dame HS) has been named to the inaugural Trevor Hudgins Top 25 Watch List. The award will be presented annually to the senior who has the finest overall career within Small College Basketball.

Laput, who was previously selected for the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List, is averaging 19.9 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists for the 14-8 Falcons. He’s shooting .463 overall from the field, .420 from three with his 50 trifectas seventh most in the Northeast-10, and a conference-best .897 free throw percentage. Laput’s scoring average is second in the NE10.

The 6-4 Laput is eight points away from becoming only the second Falcon all-time with at least 1500 points, 500 rebounds and 250 assists.

Last year, Laput received Player of the Year awards from the Northeast-10 and the D2CCA, and was selected for the NABC Division II All-America first team.

The award is named in honor of Northwest Missouri State’s Trevor Hudgins, who had a historic career with the Bearcats. He led the Bearcats to three consecutive NCAA Division II National Championships and never lost an NCAA tournament game, leading the Bearcats to a remarkable 17-0 record in the NCAA Division II championships. Hudgins was named the NCAA Division II Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons in 2021 and 2022, and finished his career with more than 2,800 points.

Bentley’s next game is at home Wednesday, a 7:30 pm start against Southern New Hampshire.
