Bentley's Laput Named To Another Watch List For Hoops Award

Bentley senior Zach Laput was named to the Bevo Francis Top 50 Watch List by Small College Basketball.

WALTHAM, MA — Bentley University senior guard Zach Laput (Beacon Falls, Conn./Notre Dame HS) has been named to the Bevo Francis Top 50 Watch List by Small College Basketball.

The Clarence “Bevo” Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations include season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. The Top 50 Watch List is made up of some of the best players across the NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA.

Laput, the 2023 Northeast-10 and D2CCA East Region Player of the Year, is averaging 19.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists for the 17-8 Falcons. He’s currently second in the conference in scoring as well as second in minutes, fifth in assists per game and seventh in average rebounds.

Laput is the only player in the NCAA Division II East Region who produces at least 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists a game. He shoots .495 overall, .407 from deep and a conference-best .895 from the free throw line.

His numbers last season were similar: 20.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

With 1,548 career points, Laput has moved into the top 12 on Bentley’s all-time list. His career scoring average of 18.2 ranks 11th amongst active Division II players.

Earlier this season, the six-four Laput was named to the Top 25 Watch List for the Trevor Huggins Award.

Bentley has four regular season games remaining, beginning Saturday at Saint Rose.
