Blue Cross Blue Shield Service Day Brings Volunteers To Waltham Farm

WALTHAM, MA — Waltham Fields Community Farm got some additional assistance recently thanks to a number of Blue Cross Blue Shield employees.

According to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts officials, nearly 3,000 employees volunteered at service projects to support 57 not-for-profit organizations on the company's 13th annual Service Day on Sept. 28.

A number of those employees made their way to Waltham Fields Community Farm to help with a number of tasks locally.

"Highly successful day of volunteering with the mighty, mighty folks of Blue Cross Blue Shield during their #serviceday2023," farm officials said on social media. "Our Learning Garden, Perennial Garden, and farm fields all benefitted from their amazing work, thank you."

According to Blue Cross Blue Shield, many of this year's Service Day projects focus on health justice in communities, including food justice, environmental justice and racial justice.

"We're excited to partner with not-for-profits that are doing such meaningful work across Massachusetts," said Sarah Iselin, Blue Cross' president and CEO. "There's no other day of the year that expresses Blue Cross' values quite like Service Day. I'm excited to be joining our associates and volunteering this year."
