After 40+ years of bringing top-notch service, pillared by exquisite, top-shelf taste, Yolanda Cellucci self-admittedly did the ridiculous so her customers would buy the normal. It was statements like this, and more, that had a 70+ person audience completely captivated as Yolanda shared her story.
For most in attendance, Yolanda’s inspiring stories, inviting charm, personable wit, and uncanny business acumen were like nothing they’ve yet to experience in life.

For me, two main things “stuck out like a sore thumb.” First, I was completely enamored by Yolanda’s understanding of how human nature works — we all want to be chic. Second, Yolanda built her brand by being MORE thoughtful than anybody else playing in her space in business.
In this article, I’d like to summarize what those in attendance learned about how Yolanda’s legacy COULD help them propel profits and generate more interest in their offerings... Perhaps you may find this information helpful too?!

Tips For Business-Builder Personality Type #1
If you are the type of person that requires little to no TLC when on course for attaining results in business, you would have been blown away hearing Yolanda talk about how she went from selling from the trunk of her car to servicing lead-flow from over 175 salons in the Boston area and beyond.
It truly was inspiring and invigorating to know just how hard Yolanda worked to acquire her legendary status... Even being well into her “Golden Years,” Yolanda still embodies the antithesis of the “work hard” rallying cry that many of us grew up believing was the way to succeed in life.
Business-Builder Personality Type #2
If you enjoy following Keeping Up With The Kardashians, you would have appreciated Yolanda’s brand building secrets for the stars. “I used to have my friends page me while I dined at the Cottage Crest in Waltham.” Talk about being an innovator for change.
Imaging dining, then seeing a woman wearing a “Yolanda-like” ensemble getting paged — Yolanda was a MASTER of creating urgency and curiosity.
She shared tips about what arriving at places in her notorious Excalibur limousine did for her business, she initially needed to employ a fake-it-till-you-make-it mentally by deeming herself to be “world famous” when she admittedly wasn’t. “Who knew either way” Yolanda says :)
It’s evident that Yolanda became what she thought about. And as she began to run with the Rat Pack, bump elbows with the likes of Bill Blass, Jay Leno, and an array of Hollywoods finest, she NEVER once spoke of being better than anyone else. Elegance is attitude in the world of Yolanda Cellucci.
Business-Builder Personality Type #3
If “show me the numbers” is your fancy, Yolanda provided plenty of that.
After 40+ years being in business, employing 70 people during her reign, and cashing out on all things business in the end, Yolanda has spent the last 3 years to make-good on all of her orders and gift certificate holders... Not sure about you, who does things like this anymore?!....
As for advertising and marketing, Yolanda told my six year old son to “wear white everywhere you go — this will distinguish you big time Zack.“ As for being budget conscious, “Why would I have wanted to spend $18,000 each month if I could leverage a vehicle that would make me be a moving billboard?” As for the automobile she’s referring to, get this; Yolanda sold her Excalibur limousine for the EXACT same price she paid for it 15 years later.
My tip to you, is that breaking-even or doing better in all of your marketing campaigns is everything. Finally, amongst the glitz and glamour, Yolanda Cellucci knew exactly WHY she did WHAT she was doing at all times, and how those actions were going to positively impact her bottom-line.
Business-Builder Personality Type #4
If following before leading if your preference, I believe EVERYBODY IN ATTENDANCE on this day found it fascinating that Yolanda never sold-out on being present for her kids for profits. Putting family-first was always her top-priority. Yolanda is TRULY an inspiration for any shy, reserved gal or guy.
Yolanda pointed out that despite the advice of her MORE famous fashion colleagues and icons, she NEVER wanted to bring her unique style and flamboyant flair to Newbury Street in Boston — nor did she want to take her fanciful fashions to cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, or Miami, where acquiring MUCH MORE wealth, fame, and interest in her offerings would have paved a much more lavish way of living... the kids were too important!
Summing Up An Amazing Evening With Yolanda Cellucci...
In an era where the cost of your product/service can trump a consumer’s decision to buy from you, giving the BEST quality of customer service is still VERY important. I believe Yolanda Cellucci did it all right.
Yolanda believes the way in which people shop has changed the fabric of shopping forever. As for me, I believe the ameba-like takeover of the internet has NOT only changed the way we shop. But, the ways we learn, the way we search for information and the way we buy will forever be evolving.
