Brandeis Dining partnered with student cultural groups to host "Around the World in One Night", a multi-national dinner experience.
On February 11, guests at Sherman Dining Hall at Brandeis University sampled kosher and non-kosher recipes from around the world thanks to input from five student cultural groups: Brandeis African Student Association (BASO), Brandeis LatinX Student Organization, South Asian Student Alliance (SASA), Club Cantonese, and Brandeis Caribbean Cultural Club.
“Working with Sodexo to produce the ‘Around the World in One Night’ was a very enjoyable and collaborative venture,” said Mark Brimhall Vargas, Chief Diversity Officer and Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. “By engaging our student organizations directly, students were able to contribute to making authentic meals representative of the diversity of our campus.”

With over 1,200 in attendance, the event was a showcase of solidarity between dining services and Brandeis students and a celebration of the unique diversity at Brandeis University.
Brandeis staff and faculty also came to experience the recipes and show support for students.

“I was especially grateful for Sodexo’s willingness to extend invitations to our faculty and staff to ensure that our entire campus would be able to enjoy this program together,” said Vargas. “I also wish to give a special ‘thank you’ to Sodexo Field Marketing Specialist Emily Baksa for being the driving force making this happen.”
