Brandeis President Plans Move to Waltham

Move is planed for July, according to the university.

Brandeis University President Frederick Lawrence plans to move to Waltham this summer, the first president to live in the city.

According to The Justice, the school’s student newspaper, Lawrence, who currently lives in Cambridge, plans to move into the Waltham Watch Factory once the first apartments in the building are completed.

Past university presidents have lived in the school's official residence in Newton, but the university plans to sell the house, according to The Justice. The home is at 66 Beaumont Ave., according to a statement on the university website. It's currently valued at $2.2 million, according to city records.

Lawrence told newspaper he chose Waltham for several reasons, including to further immerse himself in the school and Waltham community.
