Raíces Latinas Mix & Mingle ¡Nuevos miembros y OGs bienvenidos!

On Sunday, May 31st at 8:30 AM, runners and walkers will gather at Prospect Hill Park (314 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, MA) for the Mission MetroWest Road Race, a challenging and scenic 5K fundraiser benefiting the Community Day Center of Waltham (CDCW), the only drop-in day shelter serving adults experiencing homelessness in the MetroWest region.
The certified course combines trail and road terrain entirely within the park, featuring steep hills, wooded paths, and sweeping views of the Boston skyline.
The race also serves as the culmination of “Mission MetroWest: A Mile a Day in May,” a month-long movement and fundraising challenge supporting the CDCW’s work.
This year’s event feels especially meaningful because former CDCW guest Judy — alongside her senior dog, Callie-Jane — will be waiting at the finish line. After unexpectedly losing her housing, Judy stayed in the CDCW’s Night Program while staff helped her secure a new apartment. Now stably housed, she has raised nearly $1,000 to give back to the very program that supported her during a difficult chapter in her life.
“When people run this race, they are directly supporting our guests,” said Executive Director Chloe-Rose Crouch. “Judy’s story is a reminder of why this work matters.”&nbsp;Register at the link below!

Important: This is a family-style 
experience, everyone shares the same meal together, and we split the 
check evenly. The portions here are meant for sharing (individual orders
 get awkward real fast). If that's not your vibe, totally cool, just 
skip this one and catch the next event!
The practical stuff:
Event is capped at 12 people. We'll order 2 dosas, 4 curries, and 1-2 naan breadbaskets depending on the bread mood!
Only one check is allowed, so be prepared to Venmo the organizer at the end of the meal. We'll split the total evenly!
Want to bring a friend? Great! Just add them to the RSVP so we can plan accordingly. (One guest per person, please!)
Heads up: 
There's a small $3 event fee to reserve your spot and keep our group 
size dialed in. A small commitment upfront means better planning and a 
smoother experience for everyone!

Stanley Elementary School

Students, teachers, and community members will gather on June 12 from 9:00–11:30 AM at the William F. Stanley Elementary School for the Waltham Sustainability Science Fair, a student-led event exploring climate science, environmental stewardship, and local sustainability solutions.
The fair will showcase projects created by student groups investigating topics such as native plants, pollinator gardens, composting, solar and wind energy, microplastics, invasive species, water filtration, and the health of the Charles River watershed.
Students will present research projects, models, demonstrations, and interactive displays addressing questions such as: How do microplastics impact the food chain? Why are native plants important in Massachusetts? How can solar and water power generate electricity? Other projects explore monarch butterfly habitat loss, worm composting, ocean plastics, growing food locally, and the use of apps such as iNaturalist to better understand local ecosystems.
The Fair is part of a larger Cooler Communities program of the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation, now in its sixth year, which supports schools and towns across Massachusetts in organizing student-centered climate advocacy events. These fairs give young people the opportunity to share their ideas, research, and creativity while engaging their communities in climate action.

Waltham RiverBeat is a one-day festival celebrating the energy, creativity, and community of downtown Waltham. Held on the historic Moody Street Bridge and along the Charles River, the event brings together live music, local art, food, and river activities in the heart of the city.
Enjoy two stages of live music throughout the day, a curated marketplace featuring local makers and artists, and a wide selection of multicultural food vendors. On the river, there will be canoe races hosted by Charles River Canoe &amp; Kayak (Paddle Boston) and historical paddling tours led by the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association Norumbega Chapter. The Waltham Land Trust will also offer educational and historic walking tours highlighting the area’s natural and cultural history.

Gore Place is pleased to once again welcome Rachel Benson from <a href="https://www.thefiberweb.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Fiber Web</a> to run a needle felting class at the Farm. Come create a bucolic landscape featuring sheep!
No experience necessary! Rachel will guide you step-by-step through the process. You will be blown away by what you make!
All supplies will be provided. Participants will take home their felt painting as well as have the option to purchase needle felting supplies to try new projects at home.&nbsp;
