The 70,000-square-foot, cantilevered building will extend 55 feet over the Massachusetts Turnpike and will include the team's 17 NBA championship banners as well as a forty foot glass wall encasing the courts.

Included in the complex are two state-of-the-art parquet floor basketball courts, locker rooms and a players' lounge, physical therapy areas with hydrotherapy pools, sports science and nutrition facilities, a hospitality area for guests and an expanded media area, among several other amenities.

"We are proud to team with New Balance Development in the creation of a best-in-class athletic training and practice facility that will provide Celtics players, coaches, and training staff with the resources, technology, and programming to compete at the highest level in an increasingly competitive NBA landscape," Rich Gotham, president of the Boston Celtics, said in a press release. "The Boston Landing location will bring us closer to our game day home at the TD Garden while providing high impact brand visibility."

Construction on the facility will begin at 40 Guest Street at Boston Landing this fall, with completion slated for spring of 2018. It will be designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects and built by John Moriarty & Associates.

The team will join another Boston franchise in practicing at Boston Landing; the Boston Bruins announced their move to the development in 2014. Their facility is expected to open by the end of the year.

"We are thrilled to welcome the Boston Celtics to Boston Landing," Jim Halliday, Managing Director for NB Development Group LLC said in the release. "Adding another iconic brand like the Boston Celtics to Boston Landing at Allston-Brighton along the Mass Pike further advances the concept of Boston Landing serving as the gateway into the City of Boston from the west, while at the same time adding to the culture of health, wellness, and movement with this district."

The Celtics have practiced at Healthpoint at 840 Winter St. in Waltham since 1999.
