Like many organizations throughout the Covid-19 crisis, BSA Troop 248 has had to re-think the way it does things.
Unfortunately, many outdoor events have been cancelled; several routine monthly camping trips, and now our annual Summer Camp.
But that doesn't mean that scouting has stopped for the duration!

On Monday evenings, the youth leadership of the troop are leading a meeting on the Zoom platform. We've been working on merit badges, having breakout sessions for individual advancement, and a favourite camp game has been adapted for virtual play.
It's a great way for our scouts to stay in touch with each other, and it allows the adult leadership of the troop to keep everyone up-to-date with the latest information and news.

We are always seeking new members, even during our virtual meetings. If you've been curious about Scouting, or would like to see how Troop 248 operates - why not take the opportunity to do so from the safety and comfort of your own home, with no risk or immediate cost to you?
All youth are welcome - from our troop website masthead:
Scouts BSA Troop 248 Waltham, MA, welcomes all youth, ages 11-17, to our exciting year-round program focused on outdoor adventure and youth leadership.
In Scouts BSA, young men and women go places, test themselves, and have one-of-a-kind adventures that can’t be found anywhere else.
Scouting builds character and instills values for a lifetime.
If you'd like to be a part of it all - or even just poke your head in to say and check us out, please email our Scoutmaster at the following address:

As more places in the Commonwealth start to re-open, the troop will be returning to outdoor activities. Several under discussion include day hikes along the Battle Road in Lexington, and nearby conservation land in both Weston and Sudbury, as well as exploring the brand-new Mass Central Rail Trail, also in Weston. We'll be glad to have you along!
