School of Fashion Design

Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Our reputation for excellence is on display each time our students show their work at fashion shows and exhibits throughout the year. With an SFD Certificate in Fashion Design, our alumni have enjoyed fashion careers with Adidas, Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, New Balance, PUMA, Ralph Lauren, Talbots, Timberland, TJX Companies, and more. Waltham Police Officers Robert Robillard of Concord, Danielle Henderson of Marlborough and James Vaglica of Billerica are all members of "The Cops," one of 12 teams competing to win $150,000 and three Ford Expeditions. Last week, <a href="http://www.thebostonchannel.com/video/28416479/detail.html" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">"The Cops"</a> were nearly eliminated from the competition after coming in 11th place out of 12 teams, only besting "Moms Army" team in a two-mile trek toward the finish camp. The officers were initially in third place during the walk, but fell behind after disagreeing on which route they should take to the finish line.
