UPDATE: Elementary School in Waltham Evacuated Due to High CO Levels

No children were believed to be inside the school at the time.

High levels of carbon monoxide led to the evacuation of Henry Whittemore Elementary School in Waltham, NECN reports.

The school was evacuated before students arrived (around 8 a.m.), and students were bussed to another school. There were no children inside at the time, and FOX25 reports that officials believe that the cause was a faulty heating unit.

Several dozen faculty members were in the building at the time, reports WHDH-TV.

Paramater Road, too, was closed down.

Custodians discovered the problem, and heard a carbon monoxide detector going off.

Some parents opted to take their children home, reports NECN.
