Emergency Water Shutoff In Parts Of Waltham

A contractor 'malfunction' prompted an emergency water main shut off in parts of Waltham Friday afternoon.

WALTHAM, MA — The city of Waltham sent out an alert to residents this afternoon alerting them that a contractor malfunction forced the city to shut off the water mains unexpectedly in the College Farm area.

"This is an emergency," said the city in an email.

The water main shutoff will effect those on College Farm Road, Lincoln Street to Princeton Ave and and Princeton Ave, itself.

The city's water crew and contractors are on-site at 300 College Farm Road working to have this disruption in water service fixed as soon as possible.

When will that be? "Our best estimate is it will take 3-4 hours," the DPW said in the notice.
