EPA Names Waltham Companies 'Energy Star Partners of the Year'
Several Waltham companies were named by the Environmental Protection Agency in its annual awards.

Several Waltham companies got the spotlight this year as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) were among those honored for its commitment to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency.
The EPA honored 130 organizations nationwide, and Waltham’s Raytheon made the prestigious 2015 Energy Partner of the Year Award in New England. National Grid in Waltham earned the “Partner of the Year in Sustained Excellence” award.

“This year’s Energy Star Partner of the Year Award winners demonstrate leadership and innovation that help their customers, partners, and stakeholders save energy while remaining competitive in today’s economy,” said EPA Region 1 Administrator Curt Spalding in a press release. “These companies are to be congratulated for their commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting our climate.”
Picked from some 16,000 Energy Star partners, the winners included manufacturers, retailers, public schools, hospitals, real estate companies and home builders.

To earn the Energy Star label, products, homes and buildings must prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict guidelines set by the EPA. Energy Star is now on labels on more than 70 different categories, said the release, and more than 4.5 billion sold.
