SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Live music on the main stage starts at 6pm with the Bo and Bill Winiker Band. Come early to save your space in the field. Try out the delicious food from the many food trucks and explore the artisan craft booths, local business exhibitors and the carnival. At dusk, settle in for the grand finale…a fantastic fireworks display!
While most of the events are free on the 4th, there is a charge for food trucks and the carnival. A portion of these sales are sent back to the community in the form of free programs and events.
