Book Group at First Parish in Waltham

First Parish is initiating a book group that will address some of the most important issues of our times. We will start with two sessions focused on The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of
Colorblindness
which has been selected as a Common Read for all UU congregations. The author, Michelle Alexander, is a civil rights advocate who asserts that crime fighting policies and systems in the U.S., such as the “war on drugs” and the incarceration system, disproportionately and intentionally affect Americans of color.

Back Pages Books has nicely offered to give a 20% discount! http://backpages.indiebound.com . The book is also available through the UUA bookstore ww.uuabookstore.org/ or through Amazon. For more information or to RSVP: deborahwild@comcast.net.
