Crafts With Alexis

Alexis Shaw is a talented Waltham craftsperson known for the wonderful decorations she has created for a lot of Waltham community organizations and their events.  She received her training in crafts through several years of classes by  Madeline d’Chico, a former designer at Crabtree & Evelyn who was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

The Waltham Garden Club has provided many opportunities for Alexis to put her decorative talents to use, both as the decorating committee chairperson and eventually as President. Alexis developed the design themes and conducted hands-on workshops for a large number of the Garden Club’s Annual Holiday Programs and Spring Teas, which included hydrangea garlands, Della robia (fruited topiaries), spring hats, and Victorian Christmas trees.   Some of  Alexis’ design themes were also the basis for decorating Waltham City Hall for the Holidays.

Alexis taught a very popular wreath making class at the library.  Many of the participants (including the staff) were so delighted with their creations that the wreaths were featured in the Library’s display cases.

Having caught the ‘craft bug’ Alexis now interprets design ideas from many magazines and on-line sources.
