Author and lecturer Russ Cohen will lead this walk foraging for edible plants at the UMASS Waltham Center Field Station. Afterwards, we will have a potluck supper and look for stars.
Join the author of Plants That I Have Loved...And Eaten Russ Cohen as he forages for plants not normally feasted upon at the UMASS Waltham Center Field Station, location of the Waltham Land Trust office. This event is co-sponsored with Waltham Fields Community Farm (WFCF), fellow 240 Beaver Street tenants. After an explanation of what to look for, Russ will take participants around the periphery of the property (that's right, we're not foraging in the Farm!) and collect plants for dining. When this part of the program is over, we encourage folks to stick around to feast on our finds in a potluck dinner on the property. Weather permitting, we'll wrap up the evening with stargazing, lead by a BU astronomy professor and WFCF member. It should be a great evening for families and friends. Registration will be required, as this activity will be limited to 40 participants. Email Jericho, Education and Volunteer Coordinator for WFCF, to save your spot today!
