In this hands-on workshop, museum and gallery professionals will learn to beautifully document their shows and exhibits. In two parts with a break for lunch, instructor Dave Gordon will teach you to shoot and edit high quality photographs in the context of a functioning gallery.
Morning Session - Photographing in the Gallery (10am - 12pm)

Working in the galleries of the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation, you will use your camera to explore techniques of composition and lighting used by professionals. You will learn to maximize the potential of available light and your camera's on board flash. You will also have the opportunity to experiment with hot lights and external strobes. Emphasis will be placed on techniques which can dramatically improve the quality of gallery photography without the purchase of expensive equipment. Whether you own an SLR or a point and shoot, you will learn to get the most out of the equipment that is available to you.

Lunch - Provided by the Museum (12pm-1pm)
Afternoon Session - Imaging for Print and the Web (1pm-3pm)
In the afternoon session, you will be provided with a computer equipped with Photoshop and learn to dramatically improve and quickly process your images. You will also explore methods for displaying images and promoting exhibits on-line. The techniques demonstrated will help you to get the most out of whatever image editing software is available to you. You will learn to correct the color of images, sharpen them and prep them for display on the Internet or in print. The difference will be startling.

Instructor Bio
Dave Gordon is a photographer, artist and educator who currently has an exhibition at the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation, Virtual Kinetics and the Art of the Image. He has been teaching photography and digital imaging for more than ten years. He is a dedicated instructor, passionate about his craft which he shares with great enthusiasm. He currently teaches at Salem State University and North Shore Community College.
