“We're so grateful to the salon community for coming together to support Children’s Hospital Boston,” says John Frieda, HAIRraising co-founder.  "The funds raised by salons like Salon Astante will help Children's Hospital Boston continue to provide the highest standard of care for sick children and support ground-breaking research and life-saving cures that truly impact us all.”

In the past 2 years, over 100 salons from Boston, New England and across the nation have participated in HAIRraising.  This year’s event includes over seventy salons and is expected to raise $100,000 for Children’s Hospital Boston.  Sponsors of the event include: John Frieda Hair Care, CVS Pharmacy, Ann Taylor, P&G Salon Professional and Joico.

Children’s Hospital Boston: www.childrenshospital.org

Founded in 1869 as a 20-bed hospital for children, Children’s Hospital Boston today is a 392-bed comprehensive center for pediatric and adolescent health care, rated the nation’s top pediatric hospital by U.S. News and World Report in 2011. Children’s is ranked number one in more specialties than any other children’s hospital, and is the only one in the top three for all 10 specialties. The hospital is known for excellence in research, the education of tomorrow’s medical leaders, and its commitment to community health. More than 90 percent of Massachusetts’ sickest kids and nearly 60 percent of all children hospitalized in Boston come to Children’s. Children’s recorded more than 25,000 inpatient admissions in 2010; its outpatient clinics and emergency services handled more than 600,000 patient visits; and its surgeons performed some 25,900 procedures. This volume of patients makes Children’s one of the largest pediatric centers in the world. Learn more at www.childrenshospital.org
