When Hope Ends in Slavery: Human Trafficking in Israel

Acting on the conviction that Israel serve as an example in addressing social problems and crises, Rabbi Levi Lauer founded ATZUM-Justice Works and, together with Kabiri-Nevo-Keidar, the Task Force on Human Trafficking to address and fight this alarming human rights abuse.

 

Many thousands of women have been trafficked into Israel. Hundreds of brothels and "discrete apartments" operate throughout the country. According to the U.S. State Department, migrant workers in Israel come searching for better opportunities but many ultimately face conditions of forced labor, sex trafficking, and debt bondage.
