UPDATE: Mass General Waltham Fire Prompts Evacuation, Road Reopens

A fire within a parking garage at the Waltham facility prompted a road closure on Monday as crews worked to control the fire.

Update: The road has reopened, according to the Waltham Police Department, who remained on the scene as of 2:30 p.m.

WALTHAM, MA — An emergency road closure is in place in Waltham due to a fire, police said.

"Due to an ongoing fire on 2nd Ave there will be no access to 2nd Ave and Bear Hill Rd.," Waltham police said.

"Access to and from Rt 95 onto the area of Winter St in Waltham will be affected by these closures."

According to reports, the cause for the road closure was a car fire inside a parking garage at a Massachusetts General Hospital clinic in Waltham.

No injuries have been reported, but evacuations were needed at the clinic.
