Firefighter Suffers Back Injury Battling Blaze on Woerd Ave.

Waltham firefighters responded at 8:14 p.m. on Friday to a call for a house fire at 109 Weord Ave.

The 2-alarm heavy fire erupted from a 2 1/2 story wood frame, with heavy fire showing from the first floor, it was reported on Waltham Fire Department Emergency Notifications.

Companies pulled several lines to attack the fire, quickly knocking down the bulk of it.

One firefighter suffered a back injury, sending him to the hospital, and the fire is still under investigation.
