Hawk Trapped Warehouse, 'Banging Into Windows'

It was a great team effort last week when the Animal Rescue League of Boston and Waltham Animal Control joined forces to rescue a hawk that was trapped in a Waltham warehouse for two days.

The hawk was stuck in a two-story warehouse at 108 Clematis Ave., a building where deliveries routinely arrive.

“It required three member of our rescue team,” said Ami Bowen, spokesperson for ARL Boston. “The hawk was flying around and crashing into windows trying to escape.”

The rescuers used long-handled nets to capture the hawk. While he didn’t appear injured, the hawk was brought to Tufts Veterinary Hospital in Grafton because he was likely dehydrated and in need of an evaluation.

The ARL’s rescue team receives no government or public funding to help animals who are in distress and rely entirely on donations to answer the call for help from animals in need.
