How Waltham Residents Can Get Free At-Home Coronavirus Tests

WALTHAM, MA — Waltham has started distributing an allotment of over 8,200 at-home coronavirus test kits, which the state is providing to residents in cities and towns across the state with high numbers of low-income residents.

Each kit comes with two iHealth Labs tests, so about 16,400 of Waltham's 65,000 residents will have access to one. The tests take about 15 minutes to complete, and health officials say the tests will help residents stay safe during holiday gatherings as the delta and omicron variants continue to push case numbers up.

Waltham residents can fill out a quick form to request the free at-home test kits. There is a limit of three boxes, or six tests, per family to make sure every resident that needs a test receives a test. The form will close when the city’s Health Department is out of supplies.

Tests will be dropped off at each home by a Waltham Health Department employee on the scheduled date and time you choose. Hours for drop off are between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Gov. Charlie Baker announced the rapid testing initiative on Monday. About 2.1 million iHealth kits are going out to 102 communities across the state.
