Job Market Brightens in Waltham

The unemployment rate in Waltham fell last month.

The rate fell from 4.7 percent in March to 4.3 percent last month, according to new statstics from the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The numbers mirror the statewide drop in unemployment to 5.9 percent from 6.4 percent.

Specifcally, the number of unemployed residents fell to 1,664 from 1,824 in March, according to the statistics. Dave Cutler, , was one of those to land a job last month.

While not included in the statistics, Waltham’s job market is looking brighter. A new pizzeria is being planed for Moody Street, while , , and several other restaurants are planning to open new locations in the new future.

Also, the city has proposed issuing more
