Labor Day Weekend In Waltham 2017: What's Open? What To Do?
There's good news and bad news about this weekend. Here's what's open and what's closed and 5 ideas of what to do with your weekend.

WALTHAM, MA — There's good news and there's bad news about this weekend. The bad news is this is pretty much the official end to summer is upon us with Labor Day fast approaching. The good news is that you get free parking on Monday and an extra day off. After all, the whole idea behind the national holiday was to honor the social and economic achievements of American workers.
We've got you covered with what's open and what’s closed on Labor Day, and don’t forget - with the Monday holiday, trash and recycling will be delayed a day.
But lest you get sad about the end of summer here are 5 things to do with the last weekend and celebrate all the workers that came before you:

- Go enjoy the spray parks: Waltham spray parks will now remain open through Labor Day.
- Take a bike ride! Social Ride on Labor Day in Waltham
- Go to the Waltham Farmer's Market on Saturday (starts at 9:30 a.m.)
- Go to the Temple Beth Israel Festival on Sunday (Starts at 10:30 a.m.)
- On Sunday get a walking tour of the Charles River hear about its history and wildlife with the East Coast Greenway Alliance.
National Holiday Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 4 2017
- Waltham Public Schools: All Waltham Public Schools will be CLOSED on Monday, Sept. 4
- Waltham city Offices: All Waltham City Offices will be CLOSED on Monday, September 4th
- Trash & Recycling: There will be no trash & recycling pick-up on Monday. Pick up will be DELAYED 1 DAY the rest of the week (9/05-9/09). Place recycling & trash out 1 day after your regularly scheduled pick up day. Monday pick-up will now be picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, Wednesday on Thursday, and so on.
- Parking: Parking will be FREE at all meters and pay stations during the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 4th
- Gyms: Check the schedule at your gym as many have adjusted schedules for the weekend. (CrossFit for example only has one class on Labor Day. Planet Fitness is only open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Etc. etc.
