LETTER: 'Roofing Company' Scam in Waltham
A resident is warning others of a roofing scam she says is happening in the city.

There are some roofing companies knocking on doors and making calls claiming that the hail storm in August could have caused damage to roofs.
Someone came to my door yesterday to explain that my neighbor across the street had damage to her room, and they would be repairing it. He wanted me to know that I should be aware of the possibility at my house. He left me a brochure and gave me his cell phone number, which is a Pennsylvania number. When I questioned that he said they’re so busy they had to bring in people from out-of-state.
I’ve spoken to my insurance agent and his thoughts were similar to mine; they’re drumming up business and using the hail storm as a way to make a quick hit.

He told me there was heavy hail damage in the Boston and greater Boston area. It’s possibly going on in other neighborhoods.
