Mayor McCarthy: 'The City's Plan for the Blizzard'

The city already has plans for the schools, the shelter and the CPW. Read it here.

On Sunday evening, city officials met to discuss provisions and precautions to best handle the impending storm that threatens to slam Waltham and the rest of the East Coast.

According to a release from the city, here’s what is already in place as of Monday at 9:30 a.m.:

1. CPW will be declaring a snow emergency for 6 p.m. this evening. Wires Department personnel will be going out at 5 p.m. with bull horn notices to get the cars off the streets, in addition to a Reverse 911 about the snow emergency. Cars must be off the roads, municipal lots will be available after 4:30 p.m.

2. Today (Monday), the Superintendent of Schools will be cancelling school for Tuesday.

3. City offices will be closed on Tuesday.

4. Bright School Shelter will open tonight at 7 p.m.

5. The City’s Command Center will be operational as of 11 a.m. today. Trash pick-up is delayed one day. All updates re city issues will be on the city’s website which will be updated throughout the storm.
