Middlesex Human Service Agency Relocates Waltham Food Pantry

The agency has moved from its longtime home on Moody Street to Christ Church Episcopal on Main Street.

WALTHAM, MA — An important place for those facing food insecurity has successfully relocated without an interruption to service.

The Middlesex Human Service Agency (MHSA) announced that its Bristol Lodge soup kitchen and weekly food pantry has relocated to Christ Church Episcopal at 750 Main St., Waltham.

“We are happy to announce that these vital nutrition programs, which the Waltham community has relied on for so long, are able to continue without interruption,” said MHSA CEO Robert Mills.

“Thank you to everyone who answered our call for help and offered assistance; we are so grateful. We thank Christ Church Episcopal, in particular, for their willingness to make room for our operations and look forward to a long and successful partnership.”

Officials said the new location is about one mile from the previous longtime location on Moody Street and is accessible by public transportation.

Hours of operation for the soup kitchen will continue to be Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Hours for the food pantry will continue to be Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Both services are open to anyone in need, officials said.

MHSA has operated a soup kitchen and food pantry in downtown Waltham since the 1970s. It was notified this summer that it would have to move from its location of 18 years at Immanuel United Methodist Church.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better space,” Mills said. “The rector reached out after hearing about our plight and we all agreed that our missions align to serve the community’s needs.”

MHSA’s soup kitchen provides an average of 40 take-out meals a day. The food pantry serves approximately 80-100 individuals and families each week.

MHSA’s food pantry is separate from Grandma’s Pantry, the food pantry operated by the church on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month for Waltham residents age 60 and older.
