SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. WALTHAM, MA — A Waltham woman was found safe after she was reported missing on Friday. Police took to Facebook to ask for the public's help in finding her. She was found Friday.Kouzhen Xia, 57, went missing around Cherry Street at 10 a.m. on Friday. Police said Kouzhen only speaks Chinese (Mandarin) and was last seen wearing a purple down jacket and black pants. She frequently walks around the neighborhood near the old Fitch School, and also frequents the Waltham Public Library.Police did not say where she was found but only that she was found safe.
