Nelson's On the Mend and Ready for a Home
Nelson was brought to MCPCA's vets in terrible shape, from a 'puppy mill' down south. Now, he's healing and almost ready to go to a home.
He’s recovering now, and almost ready for a new home, but Nelson was so severely ill that he was surrendered to the MSPCA last week.
The adorable Shar-Pei mix was purchased online, and shipped form Missouri to Massachusetts to his new home.
But the nine-week-old pup arrived, by truck, so ill that he needed emergency veterinary intervention. He was brought to MSPCA-Angell, which named him Nelson and treated the severely ill dog. He was suffering from lethargy, vomiting and diarrhea. Angell’s surgeons found that his intenseness were entangled and they had to remove a large portion, reposition them and reinsert them.

Now ten weeks old, the puppy is recovering in foster care since his surgery. While he still needs another week or more of rest, the MSPCA has begun accepting adoption applications.
Would-be adopters should come to the MSPCA-Angell at 350 S. Huntington Avenue in Jamaica Plain between the hours of 2 pm and 6pm on Thursday, Dec. 17, or or Friday, Dec. 18, to fill out an application and speak with a counselor. Specific questions about him can be directed to adoption@mspca.org<mailto:adoption@mspca.org> in the interim.

Nelson will be at the shelter both days, so you can meet him in person.
AND, Nelson will be in the shelter both days; if you’d like to come meet him in person, we can arrange interviews and photos.
Nelson’s foster caregiver reports that he adores other dogs and would do very well in a home with another dog-or even a cat. He is friendly and social, and will likely become even more so as he continues to recover.
