No Charges Filed Against Driver Of Truck Who Hit Waltham Student
The Waltham High School junior was driving a motorized scooter. He's now in a coma.

WALTHAM, MA — No charges have been filed against the driver of a pickup truck who was involved in a crash with a Waltham High School student riding a motorized scooter that put the teen in a coma. The driver of the truck was not physically injured, police said.
On Saturday a motorized scooter and an Ford F150 pickup truck crashed near the corner of Lowell and Cushing streets. The driver of the scooter - 18-year-old Matheus DeOliveira - was rushed to the hospital. He later underwent surgery on his brain and is in a medically induced coma, according to his family.
DeOliveira was heading east down Cushing Street at Lowell Street on a motorized scooter when he collided with the truck, which was heading South on Lowell, according to police.

The driver of the truck, a 70-year-old Burlington man has not been charged, police said noting there was no indication that either driver was impaired at the time of the crash.
It's unclear if DeOliveira was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
