Obituary: Brian Wenckus, 55, of Waltham

Mr. Brian P. Wenckus, of Waltham, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital, Brighton. He was 55.

Brian was born in Waltham on March 30, 1959, a son of Joan E. (Besso) Wenckus of Waltham and the late John J.L. Wenckus. He was a graduate of Waltham Vocational High School.

Trained as a carpenter, he was self-employed in the trade and was known for his skill at his craft. He loved boating all his life and had been a longtime member of the Newton Yacht Club.

In addition to his mother, Brian leaves his children, Brian P. Wenckus of Tewksbury and Jennifer M. Brown and her husband Thomas of Medford; his grandchildren, Hailey and McKayla Brown; his sisters and brother, Carol A. Murphy and her husband Richard, Lynne M. Patten and her husband Richard, all of Waltham, Lisa A. Maloney and her husband Terrence and Daniel P. Wenckus, all of Framingham, and many nieces and nephews.

Brian was also a brother of the late John J. Wenckus and brother-in-law of the late Kathleen Wenckus.

Family and friends will honor and remember Brian’s life by gathering to visit on Saturday morning, Oct. 25, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Route 20), Waltham, before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School St., Waltham, where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
