Obituary: Carmello 'Cam' Casella, Lifelong Waltham Resident
Casella died Monday, Oct. 13. He was 83.

Mr. Carmello ‘Cam’ Casella died Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at his home. He was 83.
Cam was born in Waltham on Nov. 9, 1930, a son of the late Luigi and Carmella (Repisardi) Casella, and had been a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Waltham High School.

After high school, Cam joined the U.S. Air Force and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Bentley College when it was located in Boston. Until his retirement, he worked for 35 years for Delta Air Lines in Boston, first as an airplane mechanic, a trade that he’d learned in the service, and then for most of his career as a gate agent. He belonged to the Delta Pioneers.
He leaves his wife, Matilda (Capozzi) Casella; his children, Robert G. Casella of Sterling, Jane E. Martocchio and her husband, Gerry, of Kingston and Wendy A. King and her husband, Paul, of Shrewsbury; his brothers and sister, Louis Casella and his wife, Mary, of Townsend, Frank Casella and his wife, Louise, of Waltham and Rose Palumbo of Fayetteville, Georgia; nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Cam was also a brother of the late Joseph Casella, Mary Lucas, Ida Welch, Angelina McLellan, James Casella and Salvatore Casella.
Family and friends will honor and remember Cam’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Route 20), Waltham, on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 4-8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Waltham.
