Obituary: Helena Tumminelli, Lifelong Waltham Resident
Tumminelli died Thursday, Nov. 6. She was 96.

Mrs. Helena M. (Giampietro) Tumminelli, of Waltham, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Greystone Farm Assisted Living in Salem, New Hampshire. She was 96.
Helena was born in Waltham on Sept. 12, 1918, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Cesira (SantaMarroni) Giampietro, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Waltham and had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter No. 45, in Waltham.

The wife of the late Michele R. ‘Mike’ Tumminelli, she leaves her children Michele J. Largey of Framingham, Stephen C. Tumminelli of New Hope, Pennsylvania, and Richard P. Tumminelli and his wife Jane (Cripps) of Windham, New Hampshire; her grandchildren Grace Gonzalez and her husband Greg, Alex and Sara Tumminelli; her great-granddaughter Mia Gonzalez; her sisters Jeannette Cinquegrana of North Andover and Antoinette Martin of Tucson, Arizona, and many nieces and nephews.
Helena was also the mother-in-law of the late Jaine-i (Loh) and a sister of the late Thomas, William and Alfred Giampietro, Margaret LaForte and Anne Defina.

Family and friends will honor and remember Helena’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Route 20), Waltham, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 4-8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School St., Waltham, where her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
