Obituary: Priscilla Gibson, Longtime Waltham Resident

Gibson was long active with the Piety Corner Club and the League of Women Voters.

Mrs. Priscilla (Plumb) Gibson, of Waltham, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 at Greenwood Nursing Home in Wakefield. She was 97.

Priscilla was born on Nov. 27, 1917, in Milford, Connecticut, a daughter of the late Nathan S. and Ethel (Shaw) Plumb. She was raised in Milford and was a graduate of Milford High School. In 1939, she married Newton native Stewart K. Gibson and the couple enjoyed 58 years of marriage until Stewart’s death on June 18, 1997.

A Waltham resident for more than 70 years, she was long active with the Piety Corner Club and the League of Women Voters in the city. She had also been a former board member at the Leland Home and a member of First Congregational Church on Main Street.

Priscilla leaves her children, Stewart K. Gibson III of Somerville and Lucinda ”Cindy” Sargent and her husband Rodney of West Baldwin, Maine; her son-in-law, Paul Somers of Wakefield; her grandchildren, Nathan Sargent, Matthew Somers, Jeffrey Somers, Jennifer Somers Moon and Elizabeth Somers Curran and six great-grandchildren.

She was also the mother of the late Deborah Somers.

A memorial service for Priscilla is being planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
