Obituary: Robert 'Tim' Muise, Longtime Waltham Resident

Muise worked as a meter reader for Waltham's Water Department.

Mr. Robert T. ”Tim” Muise, of Mendon, formerly of Waltham, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2014, at his home. He was 89.

Tim was born in Waltham on June 7, 1925, one of six children born to the late Timothy and Helen Mary (Burns) Muise, both natives of Nova Scotia. He was a lifelong resident of Waltham before moving to Haverhill eight years ago and to Mendon in 2011.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he went to work for the City of Waltham following the war and retired in 1979. He worked as meter reader with the Water Department.

Tim loved being with his family, especially the dozen grandchildren who brought him a lifetime of joy. Along with his late wife, Evelyn, he loved to dance and he’d been a longtime member of the French-American Victory Club and the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 1018, both in Waltham. Tim enjoyed playing poker with his buddies and trying his luck at the track on horse and dog races.

The husband of the late Mary Evelyn (Clarkin) Muise, he leaves his children Roy J. Muise and his wife Kathleen of Medway, Timothy P. Muise of Brockton and Barbara A. Round and her husband Norman of Mendon; his son-in-law Bernard J. Despres of Waltham; his grandchildren Jason Despres, Danielle, Jenny, Rosie, Annie, Stephanie, Grace and Shawn Muise and Ashely, David and Dylan Round; his brother Charles Muise of Framingham; his sisters Marion Butler of Waltham and Pauline Quinlan of New Jersey and many nieces and nephews.

Tim was also the father of the late Roberta M. Despres; grandfather of the late Bernard J. Despres, Jr. and a brother of the late Chester and George Muise.

Family and friends will honor and remember Tim’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Route 20), Waltham on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 4-8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School St., Waltham, where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
