Thomas Hyson, of Waltham, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, in Newton-Wellesley Hospital at the age of 78.
Born on Nov. 3, 1936, in Waltham, son of the late Thomas and Evelyn (Stacey) Hyson, Tom was a lifelong resident of Waltham.

Tom proudly served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post #156 in Waltham.
He was employed as a bartender throughout his life and for many years worked for the LaCava family at Shoppers Cafe on Moody Street in Waltham. He enjoyed playing cards and loved taking trips to Las Vegas.

Beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Gurney) Hyson. He is survived by his devoted children Kathleen M. LeBlanc of Newton, Thomas A. Hyson and Bonnie L. Mason, both of Waltham, his cherished grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, Michael and Tianna, his dear siblings Shirley Collentro and her husband Jim of Billerica and Phyllis Kepple of Alabama and adored sister-in-law Ann Larossee of Brighton. In addition, he is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Bob Hyson, Carol Doucette and Howie Larossee.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service in celebration of Thomas’ life in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 23, at 12:30 p.m. Interment with U.S. Navy Military Honors will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral service from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
