Obituary: Thomas Monahan, Lifelong Waltham Resident

Monahan died Wednesday, Oct. 15. He was 77.

Thomas Monahan, of Waltham, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 77.

A lifelong resident of Waltham, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Keogh) Monahan. He was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School.

Mr. Monahan served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Nonantum Post 440. Thomas enjoyed playing cards and especially loved his dog Bridgette.

He was the husband of the late Roberta (Hanna) Monahan.

He is survived by his loving daughters Deborah Lynn Monahan and her husband Robert Hills of Waltham, Cynthia Surette and her husband Rheal of Waltham and Deborah Connearney-Delfino of Waltham, his sister Rita Cranitch of Marshfield and his cherished grandchildren Stephanie Surette of Boxborough, Colleen Surette of Waltham, Chelsea Surette of Waltham and Ryan Connearney of Waltham.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral mass in celebration of Thomas’ life at Saint Mary’s Church, 145 School St., Waltham, Friday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
