Obituary: Wesley Jones, Lifelong Waltham Resident

Jones died Wednesday, Dec. 3. He was 78.

Wesley Jones, of Waltham, passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 3, 2014, at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 78.

He was born July 23, 1936, in Waltham, one of eight children to the late Sidney F. and Rena (Wagner) Jones. He was a lifelong resident of Waltham.

Wesley served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as an airframe repairman. He was stationed at George Air Force Base in California.

Mr. Jones worked as a welder for Central Welding on Felton Street in Waltham for over 30 years.

In his spare time, Wesley enjoyed fishing. He was the vice president of the Bushwhackers Bass Club of Waltham. He also enjoyed bowling with his wife and camping with his family. He was a longtime and active member of the Heritage Park Baptist Church in Burlington.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Kathleen R. (Stevens) Jones of Waltham, his loving children Kenneth W. Jones and his wife Melissa of Waltham and Cheryl Ann Jones Torres and her husband Junior Torres of Newton, his devoted sister Phyllis Jones Martell and her husband Frank of Wilmington, his cherished grandchildren Tiffanie Jones Murphy of Newton and Erin Jones of Waltham and his step-grandchildren Jose Torres of Waltham and Jennifer Torres of North Carolina. He is also survived by seven step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service in celebration of Wesley’s life at the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, on Monday morning, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
