Officials Investigating MBTA Train Crash In Waltham

The crash occurred just after 8:30 a.m. in the area of Sawyer Road and Roberts Crossing.

WALTHAM, MA — MBTA officials are investigating after a Commuter Rail train crashed into a small sidewalk plow in Waltham Friday, reported NBC 10.

The crash occurred just after 8:30 a.m. in the area of Sawyer Road and Roberts Crossing.

The railroad crossing’s protection system was fully operational at the time of the crash, said officials. The driver of the plow jumped out before it was hit by the train.

The driver said one of his wheels got stuck down in a spot where there is no asphalt underneath and he couldn’t move it. When he heard the train coming, he ran away from the tracks.

No injuries were reported and no further information has been released.
