About three years ago, a group of personal injury lawyers from the Boston area discovered a new way to give back to the community. They figured, what batter way to do that than with accident prevention work, and what better way than to give helmets to children who need them?
Breakstone, White & Gluck this week donated roughly 100 bicycle helmets to the children of Waltham.

Waltham police Tweeted on its page, thanking the attorney group, which “fights for justice for those who have been seriously injured or killed by the negligence and wrongdoing of others.”
Breakstone, White & Gluck started with a donation in Somerville and Cambridge, and several other communities, and it has blossomed to approximately 8,000 helmets, “and growing,” said David White, Jr., of Breakstone, White & Gluck.

“We partner with police departments around the state,” said White, “and only have a few so far, but it’s given us direction. We get the helmets into the squad cars and if police see someone without one, they can give them one. It’s a positive interaction between police and community. The plan is also to work with some of the schools resource people.”
White said the group looks for communities where there is a need for the helmets, and start the donations in the spring into the early fall. This year, they’ve done 15-20 events in the Greater Boston area.
“It’s fun, too,” said White. “A lot of what we do is at town events, and we get to fit helmets on the kids at events. We buy the helmets from a company in Seattle.”
