Waltham Mayor, Council Races Take Shape After Preliminary Elections 2023

WALTHAM, MA — Waltham's unofficial preliminary election results are in, and Ward 9 Council Jonathan Paz and incumbent Mayor Jeannette McCarthy will face each other in the city's general election for mayor.

Voters were tasked with narrowing the field for mayor to two candidates, Ward 3 councilor to two candidates and councilor-at-large to 12 candidates.

McCarthy and Paz topped Duane Champagne Sr. by a wide margin, with McCarthy garnering the most votes.

William Hanley and Paul Tracey will be the candidates running for election in Ward 3 after tonight's elections, and Susan Rosenfelder was the odd candidate out in the field of at-large councilors to move forward.
