Quincy 'Career Criminal' Sentenced in Waltham Assault

George Perry was sentenced to 15 years after admitting to stealing two guns from Zeph Pitt, a convicted felon from Waltham.

WALTHAM, MA – A Quincy man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday in the armed assault of a Waltham man last February.

George Perry, 40, who authorities classified as an "armed career criminal," admitted to stealing two guns from Zeph Pitt, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The weapons were a .40 caliber IWI Desert Storm, loaded with 10 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition, and a 9mm Ruger semi-automatic, loaded with 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition, the office said.

Perry pleaded guilty in February to being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. In addition to prison time, he was sentenced to three years of supervised release.

Pitt, himself a convicted felon, was later found to be in possession of five other weapons and thousands of rounds of various caliber ammunition. He was convicted of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition and is expected to be sentenced in November, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
