Rep. Katherine Clark Appointed to House Appropriations Committee
The Committee helps prioritize federal government spending.

Congresswoman Katherine Clark, a Democrat who represents the 5th District of Massachusetts, has been appointed to the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations.
The Committee is responsible for prioritizing federal government spending by establishing fixed amounts for all federal agencies and programs.
"How we spend our resources is a reflection of our values," Clark said in a statement. "Whether it’s by fighting for investments in American families, job creation through investments in roads, bridges and renewable energy infrastructure, or research and development to make scientific breakthroughs possible, I’m eager to serve the Commonwealth and our country as a member of the Appropriations Committee."

Clark was first elected to the House through special election in 2013, and has since championed several causes, including opioid, education and women's health reform.
Last year, she and several other Massachusetts Democrats staged a series of protests on the House floor to push for a vote on gun control, and she introduced a bill requiring presidents to resolve any potential financial conflicts of interest.
